Point of Care Testing Tools
The fundamental concept behind the HemoCue products is to perform common blood and urine tests at the point-of-care without sacrificing the accuracy and precision offered by a central clinical lab.

Three Simple Steps

Step 1
Apply the microcuvette to the specimen. The correct volume is drawn into the cuvette by capillary action. (Capillary, venous or arterial blood can be used).
   Step 2
After wiping off any excess of the specimen from the sides of the cuvette, place it in the cuvette holder and insert it into the instrument.
   Step 3
The lab quality result is displayed automatically.

Hemoglobin Testing

Hemoglobin testing was the first of HemoCue's product areas, with the first system released in 1982. Tests for hemoglobin concentration are used primarily in the diagnosis of anemia, and it is particularly important that anemia is detected among potential blood donors. Hemoglobin concentration is also used in assessing oxygen carrying capacity and blood loss in acute care and emergency medical settings.

Hb 301 is the latest product of the Hemoglobin portfolio and measures hemoglobin levels in whole blood. With benefits as short measuring times and a cuvette insensitive to humidity and high temperature. It allows quick and easy hemoglobin screening point-of-care.    HemoCue Hb 201+ is a smaller, portable system that measures hemoglobin levels in whole blood. The analyzer stores results and QC-tests, together with date and time.

Glucose Testing

HemoCue's first glucose system was released in 1991. Screening for elevated glucose levels is used in the diagnosis of diabetes at an early stage, while ongoing testing plays a key role in helping people with diabetes manage their glucose levels. Glucose tests are also used to detect neonatal hypoglycaemia and maintain glycemic control during regular and intensive care.

HemoCue Glucose 201+ is a smaller, portable system that measures glucose levels in whole blood. The analyzer stores results and QC-tests, together with date and time.    HemoCue Glucose 201 is a smaller, portable update of the original system that measures glucose levels in whole blood.

Urine Albumin Testing

Urine Albumin testing is HemoCue's newest product area. Low yet abnormal levels of albumin in urine are an indication of microalbuminuria, which is both a risk marker for complications of diabetes and an independent risk marker for cardiovascular disease. Early detection allows treatment that can slow down or even prevent the onset of severe kidney and cardiovascular diseases.

HemoCue Albumin 201 System is a smaller, portable update of the original system that measures albumin levels in urine. The analyzer stores results and QC-tests, together with date and time.

WBC Testing

HemoCue WBC System for Total White Blood Cell Count

The new HemoCue WBC system is a unique point-of-care testing system for the quantitative determination of white blood cell (WBC) count. Based on the HemoCue proven and reliable microcuvette technology, lab quality results are obtained from a finger stick in minutes.

The HemoCue WBC system only requires 10µL of whole blood from a finger-stick or a venous EDTA sample. A hemolyzing agent lyses the red cells in the microcuvette and a staining agent colors the white cells. An image is taken of the stained white cells and the number of cells is then counted by image analysis in the analyzer.

Unlike conventional laboratory methods, which measure red and total blood cell counts; the HemoCue WBC system is a point-of-care device that provides quantitative results of a patient's white blood cell count in about 3 minutes. This will assist the physician in evaluating a patient's condition, while the patient is still in his/her office.

Eurotrol Control

Superior solution matrix.
Room temperature open vial stability makes QC more accessible and convenient for healthcare personnel - which means improved QC compliance.

The only QC available for the system features a very long refrigerated shelf life, minimizing lot-to-lot variations and helping to ensure long-term quality and test consistency.
